Job description

Safari Solutions has an immediate need for a full time Network Technician to join our growing Events Team. Safari Solutions has been providing voice, data, hardware, and wireless solutions to the professional sports industry for over 20 years. At these special events and competitions, Safari Solutions delivers a single solution-design, install and support of all types of communications including high density Wi-Fi solutions, enterprise network, wireless broadband for internet and other data connectivity, and much more. The Network Technician will travel nationwide to events for setup and support and must be willing to travel up to 65% of the year, typically 180+days per year.

Responsibilities:

Planning:

  • Understanding of network infrastructure plan prior to onsite arrival
  • Project timelines, maps, network design
  • Attend all pre-event planning calls.

Documentation and Process

  • Keep documentation up to date as deployment occurs within Safari tools
  • Ensure Safari trailer workspace, storage areas, and golf carts are kept clean and organized.
  • Ensure established RMA process is followed.

Onsite Deployment: Infrastructure

  • Install, terminate, label, and test Cat5e and fiber cabling.
  • Verify labeling, functionality, and test all infrastructure links & network connections.t

Onsite Deployment: APs & Switches*

  • Deploy and test APs and switches.
  • Strategically place access points for even coverage & angling, adjusting plans based on onsite considerations.
  • Identify and choose appropriate equipment, including antennas, AP types, mounts, switches, and wireless links.
  • Validate AP deployment standards through quality control and adjustments as needed.
  • Test access points, verifying connectivity and roaming performance
  • Ongoing collaboration with the Network team
  • AP settings and power level adjustments
  • Continuously test Wi-Fi performance during the event and collaborate with the Network Team on identified issues.
  • Gather end-user feedback on Wi-Fi experience.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot connectivity issues in real-time, conducting walkarounds during the event.
  • Ensure the highest deployment Wi-Fi standards are met.

Qualifications:

  • Complete all trainings outlined by the Network Engineering Team.
  • Familiarity with the Cisco Meraki portal and Meraki Hardware.
  • General understanding of DHCP, DNS, VLAN, PoE, and exposure to wireless standards, RF fundamentals
  • Exposure to wireless standards, RF fundamentals
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Commitment to continuous learning

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions

  • Ability to carry 30 lbs. of material, and use a man lift or ladder during the course of a normal work day
  • Ability to work in heat and cold temperatures
  • Work with flexibility in scheduling to meet productions goals
  • This job requires up to double shifts during Events.
