Position Title: Enterprise Data Storage Systems (EDSS) Senior Storage Systems Engineer
Position Location: On-site – NCR, specifically DC and VA
Daily Responsibilities:
- Administer, configure, maintain, monitor, and support enterprise data storage infrastructure, including NetApp and Pure SAN/NAS systems, third-party tool integration, hardware/software evaluation, capacity planning, performance trending, and day-to-day operations.
- Design, implement, test, validate, and recommend secure, scalable storage solutions that address business requirements, improve enterprise storage performance, and support client mission needs.
- Support business continuity, disaster recovery, data protection, and data migration activities for enterprise servers and applications, including BCDR events, exercises, failover/failback, test plans, proof-of-concept activities, validations, and completion reports.
- Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve storage, security, and system events, alerts, logs, vulnerabilities, threats, and technical issues while assessing impacts to upstream and downstream components.
- Coordinate with client Management, staff, Project Managers, vendors, clients, customers, senior staff, information systems professionals, and non-technical users to support project execution, customer service, status reporting, and effective oral and written communication.
- Develop, maintain, and update architecture diagrams, technical documentation, SOPs, step-by-step procedures, System Baselines, After Action Reports, status updates, Change Requests, Configuration Management Plans, reports, presentations, and other required documentation.
- Follow change management and configuration management procedures, conduct knowledge transfer and brown bag sessions, communicate roadmaps and operational updates, and apply sound judgment, problem-solving, and proactive risk mitigation.
- Provide 24x7 shift support, participate in an on-call rotation, remain available on demand for technical issues, support weekend activities, and perform other duties, projects, and tasks as assigned.
Required Years of Experience (min):
- Five years experience minimum
Required Degree/Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (5 to 15 years) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology or similar relevant degree.
Required Experience & Expertise in the following areas:
Expertise
- Enterprise SAN/NAS storage architecture, design, administration, implementation, operations, and support across on-premises, cloud, hybrid, private, and public cloud environments.
- Enterprise-level NetApp, Pure Storage systems/arrays, Microsoft File NAS, Cisco MDS SAN switches, and other SAN/NAS storage platforms.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft File NAS, including managing, modifying, applying, and troubleshooting share permissions, Windows NTFS folder and file permissions, ACLs, and access for Active Directory groups and users.
- Configuring data protection and recovery technologies, including replication between on-premises and cloud environments, array snapshots, active clusters, metro clusters, Commvault, and IntelliSnap.
Experience
- Performing SAN and NAS file storage and share implementation, administration, and operations support, including provisioning, zoning, reclamation, and related storage changes.
- Configuring and supporting cloud and hybrid storage services, including Azure/AWS S3 connectivity, cloud tiering, AWS FSxN, S3, EBS, EFS, NetApp Console, Trident, and integration with on-premises storage arrays.
- Installing, administering, and supporting Cisco MDS 9000 Multilayer SAN switches in Core-Edge environments, including Cisco Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller, Fabric Manager, and Device Manager.
- Deploying observability and monitoring tools and preparing customized storage performance and capacity reports for leadership and customers.
- Implementing Zero Trust security, system hardening, data and system security controls, user and system event auditing, data classification, and storage system alerts.
- Automating storage administration tasks and jobs using AI, PowerShell, Ansible, templates, shell scripts, CI/CD, and GitLab workflows.
Technical Skills and Tools
- Programming and scripting experience with PowerShell, Power BI, shell scripting, Python, JSON, YAML, application and web development tools, and Microsoft Office automation products, including Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve SAN and NAS storage problems in a data center environment.
Knowledge
- Fibre Channel SAN and NAS storage technologies, including NVMe-oF, NVMe, NVMe/TCP, FCoE, FCIP, FC Block, iSCSI, object storage, file storage, and related connectivity methods.
- VMware ESX clusters, vSphere, vCenter, Red Hat OpenShift, Windows Server HBA connectivity, multipathing, and integration with enterprise storage systems.
- Server infrastructure and operating systems, including Dell and HP blade frames, chassis, virtual interconnect switch hardware, network connectivity to SAN storage, Red Hat Linux, and Windows Server administration.
- Data center layouts, designs, fiber cable management, and Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 data center networking.
- AWS cloud products, architectures, building blocks, and connectivity in hybrid, private, and public cloud environments.
- Active Directory, DFS, Group Policies, access control, and enterprise file permission structures.
- Working knowledge of container technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, persistent storage, storage classes, PVs, PVCs, and CSI for Kubernetes containerized applications using block, file, and object storage.
Communication and Professional Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with client staff, senior staff, system owners, technical teams, and non-technical users, including preparation of clear technical documentation.
- Excellent time management, organization, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to manage or support multiple projects, adapt to changing priorities, work independently or as part of a team, perform under pressure and tight deadlines, and demonstrate initiative as a self-starter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in storage and cloud technologies is a plus.
Required Clearance:
- U.S. citizenship required. Shall be able to obtain a favorable determination from the client Background Investigation. Candidates must be able to secure and maintain Federal Government security clearances as deemed appropriate by management.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $145k - $160k

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
