Job description

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Clinical Director
Location: Pima Medical Institute - Colorado Springs Campus | On-Site
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $78,030 - $97,535 per year
Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist to serve as Clinical Director for our MLT program at our Colorado Springs campus. In this role, you will coordinate the clinical education and instruction of students, manage clinical site relationships, and ensure students develop the competency and confidence to succeed in the laboratory field.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Secure new clinical sites and contractual agreements; coordinate with clinical staff to establish regular placement sites for students.
  • Arrange student orientations at each clinical education site; coordinate and revise the clinical education plan.
  • Visit clinical sites regularly to review and evaluate student clinical performance and progress; coordinate with site instructors to ensure effective clinical education.
  • Monitor student competency evaluations and clinical records.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of students within clinical departments; develop clinical objectives and evaluations.
  • Review student success rates and implement plans to reduce withdrawals; maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught.
  • Evaluate student performance regarding course objectives and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
  • Maintain student grades per established policies; prepare final grades at the end of each semester to update student records and transcripts.
  • Prepare lesson plans and instruct students in MLT techniques; perform the duties of an MLT instructor as needed.
  • Recommend changes to the Program Director and may assist with student applicant admissions.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by the USDE.
  • Must hold a credential from a nationally recognized and accredited agency as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist.
  • Minimum 3 years of documented practical experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Technologist.
  • Current license, certification, or other designation as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the field.
  • 1 year of instructor experience in a related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in MLT content areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other computer applications.

  • Role requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and use standard office equipment.
