Evening Mlt Instructor Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Instructor and Program Director teaches in the MLT program and provides overall direction, coordination, planning, organization, evaluation, and administration of the MLT program. The employee must teach MLT courses; advise students; sponsor student organizations as assigned; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration. This position is under direct supervision of the Dean of Healthcare Programs and must comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.

Duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:

1. The program director must be responsible for the organization; administration; instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development; and general effectiveness of the program
2. Provide evidence of participation in the budget preparation process
3. Engage in a minimum of 36 hours of documented continuing professional development every three years
4. Be responsible for activities to support acquiring and maintaining NAACLS accreditation of the program
5. Have regular and consistent contact with students, faculty, and program personnel
6. Organize, instruct, and supervise students in both the classroom and lab settings as assigned
7. Prepare course syllabi and learning outcomes in conjunction with departmental guidelines
8. Participate in the selection of texts and teaching materials
9. Serve as academic advisor for students as assigned, including utilizing advising software and following College advising procedures and processes
10. Participate in all student registration periods and work closely with students to adjust schedules per the College drop/add process
11. Assist students in attaining relevant certifications
12. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies
13. Participate in the College's planning process
14. Serve on institutional committees
15. Assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of program curricula to insure maximum student competency
16. Be willing to attend professional training as required by program needs or requirements
17. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College
18. Maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
19. Recruit students for the program and College at large
20. Teach day and evening classes, on and/or off-campus, and distance education courses, if needed, including industry training courses
21. Have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of Northeast Alabama Community College
22. Represent the College and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
23. Collect and maintain performance data for reporting purposes
24. Maintain a safe, secure, and sanitary classroom and lab environment
25. Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
26. Complete other duties as assigned by the Dean of Healthcare Programs and Skills Training and/or President

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

1. Effective oral and written communication skills
2. Ability to present instructional material in an understandable manner
3. Ability to deal with students from a variety of backgrounds
4. Knowledge of subject matter and latest advances in subject(s) taught
5. Understanding of the mission and goals of Northeast Alabama Community College and the Alabama Community College System
6. Knowledge of established policies and procedures of the college

Minimum education, training, and/or experience:

1. Master's degree or doctoral degree from an accredited institution is required
2. NAACLS-approved medical laboratory professional designation is required
3. Possession of ASCP-BOC or ASCP-BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist is required
4. Minimum of three years of documented experience in teaching is required
5. Experience with administration or management is required
6. Knowledge of current instructional methods
7. Knowledge of current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures
