Job description

Job Summary:
The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for overseeing and optimizing commercial support functions to drive business growth and profitability. This role requires strategic leadership, strong financial acumen, and extensive experience in the gas industry to manage complex operations and achieve business objectives. The role will require oversight and coordination of policies, practices, and procedures related to commercial support functions.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Fosters a culture of innovation within the commercial operations team, encouraging new ideas and approaches.
  • Aligns commercial operations with overall business objectives, identifying growth opportunities and optimizing revenue streams.
  • Conducts in-depth market research to identify trends, opportunities, and threats.
  • Analyzes competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Oversees budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance of the commercial operations department.
  • Continuously evaluates and improves commercial operations processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities, including partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions.
  • Manages the commercial operations of the scheduling staff.
  • Manages the commercial operations of contract administration with the Legal Department.
  • Ensures compliance with evolving federal, state, and local regulations impacting the midstream industry.
  • Develops settlement policies and customer interactions.
  • Develops and implements strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Leverages data analytics to optimize commercial operations, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Implements cost-reduction strategies to improve the profitability of commercial operations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Possess strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
  • A deep understanding of financial matters and the ability to conduct thorough financial analyses.
  • Proven negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Ability to accurately forecast market trends and conditions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills are necessary to manage and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ability to manage organizational change and implement new strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial software and data analysis tools.
  • A comprehensive understanding of midstream industry regulations is essential to ensure compliance.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 15+ years of experience in contract administration, gas transportation, gas nominations, risk management, system planning, including experience purchasing or constructing new pipelines to add capacities
