Job description

Meter Reader / Mobile Data Collector
Location: Troutman, NC and Surrounding Areas
What You Will Do
As a Meter Reader / Mobile Data Collector, you will collect gas meter readings for residential and commercial customers using advanced mobile data collection technology. This position is primarily a driving role, with occasional walking required to obtain visual meter readings when necessary.
Responsibilities include:
  • Collect residential and commercial gas meter readings using a mobile data collection system.
  • Drive an assigned route throughout Troutman, NC and the surrounding areas.
  • Download meter reading information into the onboard computer system.
  • Upload completed meter readings daily to the utility's server for billing and metering purposes.
  • Perform visual meter reads when automatic readings cannot be obtained by exiting the vehicle, locating the meter, and entering the reading into a handheld device.
  • Follow all company and client safety procedures.
  • Provide courteous and professional customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Earn
Wages
  • $15.00 per hour during the training period.
  • Upon successful completion of training (approximately 2 weeks), your pay will increase to $17.00 per hour.

Main Duties
  • Read gas meters and accurately record readings using handheld technology.
  • Drive assigned meter reading routes throughout Troutman, NC and surrounding communities.
  • Meet daily production goals and route completion deadlines.
  • Walk on various types of terrain to access meters when necessary.
  • Work safely in all weather conditions.
  • Work around pets, wildlife, and other environmental conditions.
  • Prior meter reading experience is helpful but not required.
  • No experience necessary-paid training is provided.
