The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for a Special Education Teacher at Cosgrove Middle School.
Appointment: Full-time; probationary
Description: Self-contained 12:1:1 classroom
Required Credentials: N.Y.S. teacher certification- Special Education to cover grades 6-8, successful prior teaching or student teaching experience, knowledge of N.Y.S. Learning Standards, collaborative team member, and technologically proficient.
Preferred Credentials:
  • Knowledge of Committee on Special Education process and Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal writing, implementation and progress monitoring. General knowledge of elementary and secondary curriculum and instruction.
  • Experience with providing special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in the least restrictive environment.
  • Experience with developing and/or modifying curriculum, preparing lessons and providing specially designed instruction to address individual student needs.
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining open communication with parents, students, teachers and other relevant stakeholders.

Salary/Benefits: As per the Spencerport Teachers' Association contract, comprehensive benefits package.
