Job description

The Sales Research Analyst will use their expertise in sales analytics and market research to support the company’s strategic business planning process. The Market Research Analyst will work directly with sales and management to optimize sales growth, with a focus on short-term strategy. This position will ensure that the work is precise and actionable and operates in a collaborative manner with key business units, corporate and team stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

50% - Strategic Business Insights 

  • Apply advanced analytics to identify short-term market trends, demand drivers, pricing dynamics, and competitive shifts. 
  • Integrate internal sales, pricing, logistics, and operational data with external business indicators. 
  • Develop actionable insights that inform short-term sales strategy. 
  • Conduct diagnostic analytics (price-volume-mix, market share shifts, customer segmentation, demand elasticity). 
  • Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations for sales leaders. 

20%- Market Assessments 

  • Lead structured annual market assessments grounded in both analytics and field intelligence. 
  • Develop market sizing, share analysis, customer demand outlooks, and competitive positioning evaluations. 
  • Support annual sales planning, pricing goals, and market optimization. 
  • Deliver concise executive-ready market summaries highlighting risks and opportunities. 

20%- Sales Forecasting 

  • Produce rolling monthly forecasts using both quantitative models and market intelligence inputs. 
  • Continuously refine forecasting approaches using statistical methods, scenario modeling, and variance analysis. 
  • Evaluate forecast accuracy and identify root causes of deviations. 
  • Incorporate external indicators such as construction starts, infrastructure funding, weather patterns, and economic signals. 
  • Support operational planning, pricing, and logistics decisions through reliable demand projections. 

10%- External Market Intelligence & Partnerships 

  • Build relationships with customers, contractors, industry associations, and regional stakeholders. 
  • Gather qualitative intelligence to complement quantitative analytics. 
  • Monitor emerging project pipelines, industry sentiment, and regional economic developments. 

Qualifications:

Minimum 3-5 years full-time Market Research analysis experience in a business environment.  (This experience is not including internships).

Bachelors degree

Technical Competencies: 

Strong Computer Skills across the MS desktop suites (Excel, Word, Power Point, CRM) and the following: 

Data Visualization Methods: PowerBI, Tableau 

Database manipulation: CRM, SQL  

GIS software preferred, but not required 

Statistical software preferred, but not required 

Data mining and modeling knowledge 

Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 

Ability to lead project teams.
