Job Opportunity: Buyer I
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
Job Location: Williamsport, PA
Hours/Days of Position: Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
The Buyer - I supports procurement and purchasing activities related to materials, components, equipment, and operational supplies within an electronics manufacturing environment. This role assists with supplier coordination, purchase order management, delivery tracking, and procurement support activities to help ensure material availability and continuity of manufacturing operations. The Buyer - I works closely with planning, warehouse, manufacturing, suppliers, and supply chain teams to support purchasing execution, supplier communication, inventory objectives, and operational readiness while developing foundational knowledge related to procurement processes, supplier management, and supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Support procurement activities related to materials, components, equipment, and operational supply requirements.
  • Assist with creation, maintenance, and follow-up of purchase orders supporting manufacturing and operational needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, pricing updates, and routine procurement activities.
  • Monitor open purchase orders, supplier delivery performance, and material availability to support manufacturing continuity and operational objectives.
  • Support ERP system activities related to purchasing transactions, supplier records, inventory updates, and procurement documentation.
  • Assist with identifying and communicating supplier delivery concerns, material shortages, pricing discrepancies, and procurement-related risks.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records including purchase orders, supplier communication logs, delivery tracking reports, and operational documentation.
  • Coordinate with planning, warehouse, manufacturing, and operational teams regarding material requirements, delivery priorities, and procurement support activities.
  • Support inventory management and material planning activities related to supplier deliveries and operational readiness.
  • Participate in supplier communication activities and operational meetings related to procurement support and material availability.
  • Assist with implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing processes and supplier performance.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), engineering changes, and operational transition activities related to procurement readiness and supplier coordination.
  • Support compliance with organizational purchasing procedures, inventory controls, supplier requirements, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with senior procurement personnel to develop technical knowledge related to purchasing operations and supplier management methodologies.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field preferred; candidates with equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 1 year of procurement, purchasing, inventory control, warehouse, manufacturing, or supply chain support experience. Internship experience will be considered.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes, supplier coordination, and inventory management concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional operational and supplier support teams.
  • Basic understanding of ERP systems, purchasing systems, or inventory management processes.
  • Ability to maintain accurate procurement records, reports, and operational documentation.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to follow written instructions.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English to interpret work instructions, operational reports, supplier documentation, and safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or industrial production environments.
  • Experience supporting ERP systems, purchasing systems, or inventory management platforms.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing planning, procurement coordination, or supplier management processes.
  • Experience supporting high-mix, low-volume manufacturing or contract manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational efficiency initiatives.
  • APICS coursework or introductory supply chain/procurement certification.

Physical Requirements / Essential Functions:
