Position Summary
Volumod is seeking a highly motivated Buyer to support our modular construction
manufacturing operations. The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, supplies,
and services required to support production and project schedules while maintaining
inventory accuracy, controlling costs, and ensuring supplier performance.
This position plays a critical role in managing supplier relationships, monitoring
inventory levels, supporting production planning, and ensuring materials are available
when needed to maintain manufacturing operations. The Buyer will work closely with all
departments to support company objectives and drive operational efficiency.
This is an onsite position located within our production facility and in a warehouse
environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
  • Source and purchase materials, supplies, and services to meet production schedules.
  • Manage the full purchase order (PO) lifecycle from generation to timely delivery.
  • Develop strategic sourcing plans focused on cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Identify, qualify, and negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors.
  • Build strategic supplier partnerships and resolve quality or delivery issues.
  • Track material costs, identify savings, and support budgeting and forecasting.

Inventory & Risk Management
  • Optimize inventory levels using demand forecasts to prevent shortages and excess stock.
  • Coordinate cycle counts and reconcile inventory data with internal teams.
  • Monitor supply chain risks and establish alternative source contingency plans.
  • Partner with Production, Project Management, and Accounting to align operational goals.
  • Ensure all purchased materials comply with project specs and regulatory standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement, inventory control, and efficiency

  • Work Environment
  • Primarily based within a production manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Frequent interaction with suppliers, warehouse personnel, production teams, and office staff.
  • Occasional travel to supplier facilities, trade shows, or industry events, may be required.

  • Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems. Fishbowl is a plus but not necessary.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in construction or manufacturing procurement, backed by deep knowledge of material supplier networks and industry best practices.
