Job description

SJS Industrial, a veteran owned media blasting, industrial painting, powder coating, and light fabrication shop in Virginia Beach, VA, that serves military and maritime customers, is seeking a full-time Logistics Specialist to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Each 8-hour shift also includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.

 The pay range for this position will be $17.00 to $18.00 per hour. The benefits are 7 paid federal holidays per year, 80 hours of annual accrued time off), and a variety of insurance options such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance. 

Saturday or evening shifts might happen occasionally if there is a special project with a tight deadline, but the goal is a steady and reliable Monday through Friday 40-hour work week to avoid weekend, night-time, and overtime work.

The ideal candidate for this position possesses a working knowledge of the various aspects of logistics, with one (1) to three (3) years of recent experience in the logistics field.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Monitoring, tracking, and the control of movement of product and materials during the production lifecycle from receipt to final delivery.
  • Reports to Logistics Supervisor and Production Manager 
  • Coordinates and expedites flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between work areas in accordance with production and shipping schedules or supervisors priorities.
  • Establishes internal delivery sequences within the organization according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material.
  • Monitors, tracks, and control movement of materials throughout its production lifecycle from receipt to delivery.
  • Compile perpetual records in order to locate materials in process of production, using manual and computerized systems.
  • Document orders, materials, and any stock movements.
  • Wrap orders and prepare them for placement on trucks for delivery.
  • Monitor inventory levels and suggest new orders when needed.
  • Ensure that finished products are properly secured and ready for shipment to customers. 
  • Submit daily reports on status and disposition of all jobs within the facility.
  • Follow all written and verbal instructions.
  • Ensure status updates detailing status and disposition of all jobs are provided to production supervisor on daily basis or when needed. 
  • Observe all safety guidelines and report safety concerns to management.
  • Attend all safety, production, training sessions as requested by production supervisor and senior personnel. 

Qualifications:

    Must have Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in logistical setting consisting of shipping, receiving, product tracking.
  • Must have working knowledge in requisitioning procedures, warehouse operations, storage procedures, production environments, and shipping and transportation of goods.
  • Must pass drug test and background check.
