POSITION SUMMARY
Select Sires, Inc. is currently seeking candidates to join our team as a Livestock Technician. This hourly, non-exempt position is based at our Plain City, Ohio facility and reports to the Production Supervisor.
Starting Wage: $19.00+ per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as a positive representation of the Select Sires, Inc. Mission and Core Values.
  • Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment.
  • Collect semen using established safety protocols.
  • Handle bulls in a manner that properly stimulates semen collection.
  • Operate company vehicles, trucks, trailers, and farm equipment.
  • Perform general livestock care, including Feeding, Cleaning, Moving bulls and steers, Health testing, Veterinary treatments and Hoof trimming

WORK SCHEDULE
This position operates on a Monday through Friday schedule. Shift assignments vary by facility and may include:
  • 5:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
  • 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • 1:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

Holiday, evening, and weekend work may be required on a rotating basis. Work schedules and job responsibilities are subject to change to meet departmental and business needs.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to perform the following physical activities:
  • Constantly (6-8 hours per day) Stand and walk, Bend and stoop, Push and pull over 100 pounds
  • Frequently (3-6 hours per day) Twist, Knee lift (18" to 29") up to 50 pounds, Waist lift (30" to 36") up to 50 pounds, Chest lift (37" to 60") up to 50 pounds, Overhead lift (above 60") up to 20 pounds, Carry up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally (1-3 hours per day) Squat and kneel
  • Seldom (0-1 hour per day) Sit, Climb stairs, Crawl, Floor lift (0" to 17") up to 20 pounds
