Mechanical Engineer

Job Type: Full-Time
Location: Sacramento

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering


Position Overview

A growing engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Sacramento office. This position will provide mechanical design services for a diverse portfolio of projects.


The ideal candidate will have extensive HVAC and Plumbing design experience, and strong knowledge of mechanical and energy codes, and the ability to lead design efforts while managing multiple projects and coordinating with architects, owners, and other members of the design team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design efforts on both large and small projects.
  • Manage design schedules and coordinate the work of project team members.
  • Work directly with architects, owners, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Conduct preliminary engineering evaluations and develop design recommendations.
  • Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, and technical documentation.
  • Produce detailed mechanical construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations and system design.
  • Review equipment selections and shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Conduct field observations and assessments of existing mechanical systems and facilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and contribute to successful project delivery.
  • Manage multiple projects while meeting established schedules, budgets, and quality standards.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering and HVAC design experience.
  • PE registration preferred.
  • Experience with:
    • HVAC load calculations
    • Life-cycle cost analysis
    • VAV and constant-volume air distribution systems
    • Hydronic system design
    • Mechanical equipment selection
    • Shop drawing review
    • Existing system and facility assessments
    • Field observations and reporting
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building systems and design practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
