About the Role:
Our State Farm agency in Ashland, VA is hiring a full-time Insurance Sales Representative to help customers protect what matters most. This is a relationship-focused sales role where you'll prospect, consult, quote, and close-while also supporting retention through strong follow-up and policy reviews. We're looking for someone who is confident in sales conversations, organized with follow-through, and motivated by goals.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Client Prospecting: Identify and reach out to potential customers through cold calling, referrals, networking, and marketing campaigns
  • Needs Assessment: Learn each customer's goals and recommend appropriate coverage and financial protection options
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain strong knowledge of insurance products (auto, home, renters, life, health) and clearly explain coverage, benefits, and terms
  • Quoting & Proposals: Provide accurate quotes and prepare coverage recommendations tailored to customer needs
  • Sales Presentations: Conduct phone/in-person meetings to present options, overcome objections, and close business
  • Policy Processing: Assist with applications, underwriting requirements, and documentation to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Customer Service & Retention: Support customers with policy questions, renewals, claims assistance, and proactive policy reviews
  • Issue Resolution: Help oversee the resolution of complex customer issues and ensure a high-quality customer experience
  • Compliance: Ensure sales and service activities follow applicable insurance laws, regulations, and company policies
  • CRM & Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed notes, activities, and follow-ups in CRM/agency systems
  • Goal Achievement: Meet or exceed individual and team sales targets; contribute to agency growth

What We're Looking For (Qualifications)
  • Insurance sales or account management experience preferred (not required)
  • Proven ability to meet goals and follow a sales process
  • Strong interpersonal skills; professional and persuasive communicator
  • Organized, responsive, and comfortable managing a pipeline and follow-up activity
  • Willingness to engage in proactive sales conversations (cold and warm leads)
  • Leadership mindset and a team-first attitude

Licensing
  • Virginia insurance licensing required (Property & Casualty and Life & Health)
  • Licensing costs are reimbursed
  • Prior insurance experience is preferred, but we will train the right person
