Pediatric Nursing Instructor – Full Time
Charter College | Anchorage, AK
In-Person | Full-Time Exempt
Charter College is seeking a Full-Time RN Nursing Instructor to join our nursing faculty in Anchorage, Alaska. We are looking for experienced MSN-prepared nurses with applied clinical and instructional expertise across multiple nursing specialty areas.
All Nursing Faculty report directly to the Dean of Nursing.
Position Description:
The RN Nursing Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing instruction in accordance with Charter College policies, procedures, and academic standards. This role supports student success through classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction while contributing to curriculum development and program outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction based on the approved nursing curriculum.
  • Follow established course outlines, objectives, and evaluation methods developed by nursing faculty.
  • Create a learning environment that supports cognitive, affective, and psychomotor development.
  • Mentor students in professional nursing values and behaviors.
  • Use a variety of instructional and assessment strategies across learning settings.
  • Contribute to curriculum design and program outcomes aligned with current healthcare trends.
  • Serve as a leader and change agent in nursing education and practice.
  • Maintain professional expertise and engage in ongoing lifelong learning.
  • Recognize scholarship as a core component of the faculty role.
  • Understand and respond to political, institutional, social, and economic factors impacting nursing education.
  • Monitor student attendance, performance, and retention.
  • Provide academic support during scheduled office hours or by appointment.
  • Secure educational materials and consumable supplies as needed.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct.
  • Communicate regularly with the Lead Instructor or Program Director regarding student matters.
  • Maintain Alaska Board of Nursing licensure in good standing.
  • Ensure students adhere to catalog and program guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and serve on committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required.
Clinical Experience:
(Applied Experience Required in One or More Areas).
  • Medical-Surgical.
  • Leadership.
  • Pharmacology.
  • Fundamentals.
  • OB.
  • Pediatrics.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years as a Registered Nurse (Required).
  • Nursing education or teaching experience preferred.
Licensure & Certification:
  • Active Alaska RN license in good standing (Required).
  • If not currently certified as a Nurse Educator, willingness to pursue ANCC Nurse Educator certification within three years.
  • Maintain all required nursing licenses and certifications to practice in Alaska.
Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
  • $97,000 – $119,000 annually.
  • Compensation based on experience, education, and qualifications.
  • Full-Time | Exempt.
  • Eligible for Nursing Student Loan Repayment Program.
