Commercial Drywall Estimator – Deliver Accurate Interior Bids for Shields, Inc.

The Opportunity

As a Commercial Drywall Estimator at Shields, Inc., you will drive the bidding process for high-profile commercial interior projects. You will turn complex project plans into accurate, competitive cost proposals that fuel business growth. This role allows you to combine technical expertise with commercial strategy within a supportive, employee-focused culture.


How You Will Make an Impact

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for drywall, metal framing, insulation, and acoustical ceilings.
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to construct precise cost estimates.
  • Solicit and evaluate competitive pricing from material suppliers and key subcontractors.
  • Develop complete bid proposals and submit detailed proposals to meet strict deadlines.
  • Identify scope gaps, potential project risks, and exclusions during bid preparation.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and physical site visits to assess field conditions.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers and leadership to assist with seamless project handoffs.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong background in analyzing commercial architectural plans and technical bid specifications.
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid.
  • Proven track record of performing accurate quantity takeoffs and labor/material estimates.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing with vendors and subcontractors.


Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years of commercial drywall and framing estimating experience.
  • Estimating experience on schools, hospitals, office buildings, hotels, or retail spaces.
