Job description

Overlake Medical Center & Clinics has a new opportunity for a full-time Infection Preventionist to support both clinic/ambulatory and hospital entities.

This role collaborates with the Manager on all infection prevention related activities associated with surveillance, performance improvement and education which are intended to ensure that the facility's patients, staff and visitors will be protected from transmission of diseases and infection within the facility's environment. Responsible for ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission Standards, State and CMS regulations, and for facilitating the daily activities of the Infection Prevention Department.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a Nursing program with current licensure or Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree strongly preferred.

  • Four (4) years of previous work experience in a hospital setting, public health, clinical quality, or performance improvement, preferably in infection prevention OR two (2) years with a Master's degree.

  • Two years of Clinic/Ambulatory IP experience highly preferred.

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or obtain within 2 years PLUS one of the following if applicable:

  • If RN, current Washington State RN license

  • If a certified Medical Technologist, the certification must be from the ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts)

  • If clinical quality or performance improvement, Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
