Job description

This individual is driven to create meaningful experiences for our hosts, guests, and community while ensuring the success and profitability of our unique offerings. The right Helping Hands Team Member will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.
The Helping Hands Team Member will be trained in and support all areas of functional operations for all Dollywood Company Properties including Dollywood Theme Park, Dollywood's Splash Country, Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa and Dollywood's Heartsong Lodge and Resort. This position provides Helping Hands team members with valuable knowledge and experience that produces a well-rounded view of operations at each property. It has the potential to serve as an enrichment opportunity for hosts developing their career within the organization, as they will increase their understanding of and exposure to many different divisions among the properties. Helping Hands is a training position. As such, it is required that your skills and performance are evaluated as being eligible for promotion. If your performance does not fit that profile, you will be given the opportunity to interview for other open positions within the Dollywood Company, with no guarantee of placement. All of this will be done in a manner consistent with the mission, values and operating philosophies and standards of the Dollywood Company.

Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Complete training on the operational functions of most divisions
  • Support the operations of Dollywood Company properties by working in a variety of roles that best help the daily staffing needs
  • Work flexible varying hours and at different locations
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all operational divisions
  • Maintain a friendly attitude toward Guests and Hosts. Greet Guests, answer questions, and exceed expectations
  • Verbally communicate and enforce safety policies, procedures, operational and attraction rules in various roles
  • Visually observe Guests' actions to ensure a safe Guest experience. Report unsafe acts to appropriate management
  • Follow policies and guidelines of each position and property as outlined during training
  • Assist in ensuring team goals are being met in each division while assigned
  • Keep all work areas clean and organized
  • Execute proper cash handling procedures in roles where required
  • Assist with the facilitation of lines as directed to reduce the Guest wait time
  • Provide prompt, courteous attention to Guests in the role in which you are assigned for the shift
  • Guest Excellence and Employee Excellence/Expectations must be maintained in accordance with Dollywood Company property policies

Education and Experience Required
  • High School diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Driver's license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable driving record required
  • Must be able to submit to and pass a pre-employment offer drug screen and background check
  • Prior cash handling experience, Preferred
  • Prior sales experience, Preferred
  • Must be able to pass typing test
  • 6 months of experience with office software such as Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Outlook, Required

  • Able to wear all PPE as required
  • Able to work with all chemicals/detergents utilized in the area
  • Able to wear a full body safety harness and climb up to a 250ft lift in order to perform inspections, conduct ride evaluations and Host training
  • Able to climb evacuation steps and maintain good balance
  • Able to ride all rides/attractions which require a physical ride through inspection
  • Able to work in any assigned area of Attractions and perform other functions as assigned
  • Able to operate/drive company vehicles and have a valid driver's license with proof of auto liability insurance
  • Able to train on and drive all motor vehicles used in operations-tram, truck, and golf cart
  • Available for a minimum of 46 weeks out of the year to ensure a successful opening and closing of the park
  • Able to follow all required instructions to perform an assigned job
  • Able to abide by Dollywood's confidentiality rules pertaining to all Hosts
  • Able to follow all scheduling assigned by respective teams
  • Able to follow all safety guidelines for the job being performed
  • Able to operate ticket and season pass equipment, turnstiles, scanners, phone equipment, copier, facsimile, and calculator
  • Able to operate Merchandise POS systems
  • Able to learn computer, computer scanning equipment, and printer equipment
  • Must comply with all Health Dept., Serv Safe, and Company regulations pertaining to Food Safety Handling Procedures

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. utilizing company's safety guidelines for safe lifting
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
