Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist
Bon Secours Advanced Heart Failure Center – Richmond, VA
Full-Time | Inpatient & Outpatient | Monday–Friday

The Bon Secours Advanced Heart Failure Center is seeking a full-time Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our high-performing team at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. This is a unique opportunity in a highly specialized sub-field, with the ability to follow patients across the continuum of carein both inpatient and outpatient settingsand actively collaborate with regional transplant centers.

The Advanced Heart Failure Program is a vital component of the Bon Secours Heart & Vascular Service Line, which includes nearly 20 cardiologists across Non-Invasive, Interventional, Electrophysiology, and Structural specialties, as well as 4 Cardiovascular Surgeons. The program operates at St. Mary's Hospital and Memorial Regional Medical Center, and is Joint Commission Certified in both LVAD and Heart Failure care.

Position Overview

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Call Rotation: 1:5 weeknights and weekends
    • Weeknights: After-hours calls from hospital and outpatient
    • Weekends: Independent hospital rounding and after-hours calls
  • Average Volume: 20–25 patients/day
  • Telehealth: Virtual visits via MyChart and telephone, as appropriate
  • Procedures: Right heart catheterization, echocardiography
  • Clinic Locations: St. Mary's Hospital (primary) and Memorial Regional Medical Center (weekly)

Practice Model

  • Weekly rotation between inpatient service and outpatient clinic
  • Inpatient service supported by a dedicated Heart Failure NP
  • Right heart catheterizations performed during outpatient rotation
  • Clinic design allows adequate time for complex visits and patient education

Team & Program

  • 1 Cardiologist, 4 Advanced Practice Providers
  • RNs, CMAs, RN LVAD Coordinators, Social Worker
  • Embedded in Bon Secours' comprehensive Heart & Vascular Institute
  • Access to referrals from Bon Secours cardiologists and private cardiology practices
  • Program growth driven by local demand and recent closure of a competing practic

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • BC/BE in Cardiology and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology
  • Eligible for unrestricted Virginia medical license
  • Passion for team-based, patient-centered care and long-term program development
