Job Title: GGC Retail Team Member Date Created/Revised: 1.7.2026 Department: Mission and Operations Reports to: TLC FLSA Status: Non- exempt Position Type: Full Time/Part Time MISSION CONTRIBUTIONThrough generous donations, Alabama Goodwill Industries strengthens communities, eliminate barriers to opportunity, and help people reach their full potential through learning and the power of work.

Under the direction of the Team Leader Coach or designee, the Retail Team Member assists with the day-to-day sales floor operations, providing world-class customer service, stocking shelves, completing mark-downs, rotating and displaying hardline (wares, books/media, shoes, furniture, etc.) and soft-line (apparel and linen) merchandise, essential cash register operations, and maintaining work area safety with cleanliness and orderliness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure 100% donor and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide the retail store with essential cash register operations, excellent customer service, and sales floor functions.
  • Make eye contact and greet customers within 10 seconds upon entry and throughout the st
  • Follow all cashier standard operating procedures and maintain accurate[KR1] counts.
  • Ensure end of shift cash balancing is within standard of over/short within $5.00.
  • Adhere to all PCI compliance standards and report suspicious activity immediately.
  • Promote the shopping experience by providing superior customer service by assisting customers in locating and purchasing goods.
  • Promote shop-ability by organizing, coordinating and rotating merchandise on the sales floor, ensuring an attractive and convenient layout of the sales floor along with visual merchandising and cleanliness of the store.
  • Adhere to all store and personnel policies and procedures, follow good safety and security practices, including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the TLC or ATL.
  • Crosstrain in the production of goods as well as the sale of goods, as requested.
  • Complete hands-on and computer-based training as required and per policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferably previous retail and/or cashier work experience.
  • Able to use a cash register, calculator, and credit card processing machine correctly and make change accurately.
  • Able to demonstrate good judgment in recognizing items appropriate for sale.
  • Able to maintain a positive, friendly attitude and a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
  • Able to follow instructions and comply with policies and procedures.
  • Able to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team leaders, team members, customers, and clients.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to lift, push, pull up to fifty (50) lbs. with no support regularly. Over fifty (50) lbs., request for additional team member assistance as needed.
  • Able to engage in prolonged standing, walking, and frequent bending, stooping, and stretching.
  • Able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects as required by the job.
  • Able to perform tasks that require repetitive motion. Manual dexterity is required.
