Job Summary
This position oversees the daily operations of golf course for one of the City's municipal golf courses, Tangle Ridge Golf Course and Prairie Lakes Golf Course. Supervises and develops staff, manages budgets and operational performance, ensures high-quality customer service, and maintains safe, efficient, and well-maintained facilities. Supports marketing, community engagement, and grow-the-game initiatives while coordinating with vendors, contractors, and City staff to achieve operational, financial, and customer service objectives.
Essential Job Functions
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
This position has responsibilities that require lifting up to 10 pounds on occasion.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the golf course, including tee times, guest services, pace of play, and facility readiness.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and evaluate food and beverage staff, cart attendants, and pro shop employees.
  • Ensure a high-quality guest experience by addressing customer concerns, maintaining service standards, and promoting hospitality.
  • Monitor budgets, revenue, payroll, purchasing, and expenses while working to maximize profitability and operational efficiency. Prepare reports, maintain records, analyze operational data, and communicate updates to leadership.
  • Plan and oversee tournaments, outings, leagues, and special events to increase participation and revenue.
  • Manage, develop and implement grow the game initiatives such as golf clinics, junior golf programs, and individual lessons.
  • Assist with marketing strategies, membership growth, social media promotions, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Manage inventory for the pro shop, food and beverage operations, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with city policies, safety standards, TABC regulations (if applicable), and golf industry best practices.
  • Work with vendors, contractors, and service providers regarding equipment, supplies, and operational needs.
  • Monitor the condition and functionality of all golf facilities including the clubhouse, driving range, cart fleet, and practice areas.
  • Maintain a safe environment for guests and staff by enforcing operational and emergency procedures.
  • Regular and dependable attendance is required.
  • All other duties as assigned by a supervisor/manager within your department/division.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may qualify. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: Over Five years of experience in golf course operations, golf management, hospitality, parks and recreation, business operations, or a related field. At least two years of supervisory or management experience is required.
  • Licenses: Valid Driver's License required. Ability to obtain and maintain TABC and Food Handler certifications if required by assignment. Class A membership in good standing with the PGA of America or LPGA is preferred.
