Job description

The Environmental Planning department of Metric Engineering, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Environmental Specialist with 3-7 years of professional experience for a full-time position. Desire for location in Northwest Florida but will consider candidates statewide who have demonstrated work experience.
The ideal candidate will possess a B.S or similar degree in environmental science or related field. The position involves developing NEPA documentation to support Federally-funded transportation, disaster recovery, low-income housing, and community development programs. Works tasks include conducting environmental reviews that require GIS and technical reporting as well as communicating with clients and stakeholders. Salary and benefits are industry competitive and the position entails a hybrid work environment (mix of office, remote, with some field).
Day-to-Day:
  • Coordinating with Metric Team across multiple projects and tasks
  • Communicating with Clients and Regulatory Agencies
  • GIS analysis and data collection
  • Leading development of environmental documentation
  • Technical report writing/editing
  • Field surveys and site inspections
  • Maintaining strict regulatory records
  • Managing official correspondence and public notifications
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Required Qualifications:
• Education: B.S. or B.A. degree in natural or environmental sciences or planning (or similar field)
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills
• Florida driver’s license
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite
• Proficient with map data/GIS
Preferred Capabilities:
• Experience with NEPA and HUD Grant Programs (i.e. CDBG, CDBG-DR, HOME, ESG)
