Supply Chain Manager, Power Facilities

Fervo Energy Company

Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
Fervo Energy is applying first-principles engineering and a manufacturing mindset to geothermal power, an industry that has operated the same way for decades. Rather than deploying one-off energy projects, we are building standardized, repeatable GeoBlocks - units of geothermal power generation - designed to get cheaper, faster, and more reliable with every iteration.
At Fervo, Supply Chain is a highly strategic function that acts as a core driver of our GeoBlock manufacturing process. The PowerBlock segment - consisting of turbines, generators, heat exchangers, and major electrical equipment that convert geothermal heat into power - is one of the most important pillars of that supply chain.
The Supply Chain Manager, Power Facilities will own category strategy and execution for PowerBlock equipment and services. This includes turbines, generators, heat exchangers, balance-of-plant equipment, electrical equipment, and the construction and implementation services that build them. This person will lead strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management for the segment, build the strategic supplier relationships that drive cost and cycle time improvement as Fervo scales its GeoBlock manufacturing model. In addition to being highly strategic, a good candidate will be highly collaborative with engineering, construction, and operations, with whom they will work closely. This Supply Chain Manager, Power Facilities will report to the leader of the Supply Chain function.
Requirements
Responsibilities
  • Own PowerBlock category strategy, including make/buy, sourcing approach, and supplier segmentation across turbines, generators, heat exchangers, balance-of-plant, and major electrical equipment
  • Lead negotiations for PowerBlock equipment and services contracts, structuring commercial terms, pricing mechanisms, and incentives that protect Fervo's cost and schedule outcomes
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with PowerBlock equipment OEMs and service providers, developing framework agreements when strategic and eliminating sole-source dependency where it makes sense to do so
  • Partner with GeoBlock Engineering, Construction, and Operations from the start of design on PowerBlock equipment selection, standardization, and specification - surfacing supply chain constraints and prioritizing cost and cycle time reduction
  • Manage the full procurement lifecycle for the segment: RFPs, technical and commercial evaluation, negotiation, PO issuance, and supplier performance management
  • Develop, track, and report on PowerBlock category KPIs - cost, cycle time, supplier performance, and risk, using that data to drive sourcing decisions
  • Develop and adhere to using collaborative communication tools that keep stakeholders informed
  • Identify and manage category-specific risk, including single points of failure, long-lead equipment exposure, and compliance considerations tied to major equipment sourcing
  • Collaborate closely with the Logistics, Expediting, and D&C/Indirect pillars to keep PowerBlock sourcing decisions aligned with the broader supply chain organization rather than operating in a silo
  • Partner with Strategy and Compliance to incorporate geothermal specific compliance to all necessary agreements
  • Drive continuous improvement in how the category is sourced, contracted, and managed as Fervo's deployment pace increases

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, business, or science
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, category management, engineering, or operations
  • Track record of high performance in a fast-paced, fast-scaling, or manufacturing-mode environment
  • A highly collaborative approach
  • A dedication to continuous improvement

Preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading commercial negotiations for major equipment or services contracts
  • Working knowledge of turbines, generators, heat exchangers, or comparable power generation and electrical equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills
  • Exposure to manufacturing-mode or repeatable project delivery models

WHO THRIVES AT FERVO
We screen for attributes as much as experience. The people who do best here share a few things in common:
  • First-principles thinkers who question industry norms and trace problems back to physics and economics
  • Extreme ownership mindset
  • Bias for speed and iteration
  • Simplifiers who cut complexity
  • Collaborators who see supply chain and the business as inseparable
  • Mission-driven
