UPMC Southwestern PA

Job description

The Department of Dermatology is looking for academically inclined dermatologists and dermatopathologists to become part of our full-time faculty at the Assistant Professor level. We invite applications from board-certified and board-eligible candidates who have a keen interest in various dermatology specialties.

Our department caters to a diverse and medically intricate population in the greater Pittsburgh area, while also attracting patients from across Pennsylvania and neighboring states. The extensive campus of the University of Pittsburgh/UPMC features 40 hospitals and 800 outpatient clinical sites, along with a global healthcare footprint. Our Department of Dermatology operates seven clinics, offering a range of services including general dermatology, phototherapy, laser treatments, Mohs micrographic surgery, aesthetic services, and inpatient consultations.

Located on our Oakland campus, our Dermatopathology unit comprises four full-time dermatopathologists and two dermatopathology fellows. Our teledermatology program facilitates both synchronous and asynchronous patient care throughout the state, supporting inpatient consultations and in-office e-consults with community physicians. Furthermore, we provide opportunities for clinical research and collaboration with both clinical and basic science colleagues on campus for those interested in research.

Established in 1787, the University of Pittsburgh consistently ranks among the top 12 U.S. universities in health research funding and is a significant recipient of grants from the National Institutes of Health. UPMC, along with its flagship facility, UPMC Presbyterian, is situated on the University’s expansive 132-acre campus and is recognized as a leading healthcare provider in the nation.

Pittsburgh stands at the forefront of biomedical research, computing technology, finance, and business, serving as a vibrant hub for historical, cultural, recreational, and professional sports activities. The region is renowned both nationally and internationally for its innovative contributions to medical research and technology. Recently, Pittsburgh was honored as ‘America’s Most Livable City’ by Forbes and The Economist, thanks to its dynamic cultural district, numerous museums, exciting dining options, extensive parks, outdoor activities, and affordable cost of living.

The University of Pittsburgh/UPMC is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to promoting equality of opportunity, human dignity, and diversity, including for individuals with disabilities and veterans. The rank and salary for this position are negotiable.
