POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for the development, improvement, and adherence to manufacturing processes on the floor in the flavors manufacturing departments.  Responsibilities for this position are to audit processes, centerline sheets and startup/shutdown sheets for compliance reporting.  The successful candidate will collect and analyze data on online performance for process improvement and problem solving for downtime reduction.  Other requirements are to assist with key loss point analysis and assist Engineers with the development of new procedures and edits to existing procedures and validate temporary procedure changes.  The Process Technician will coordinate PDCA activity and participate in cross-functional team meetings.  This position will also act as a training resource for new or updated procedures and for validation of job-in-series upgrades.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Providing process engineering support and project engineering guidance to filling, processing, and/or support departments under the direction of the Department Manager(s).
  • Assist a team of Technicians to maintain and create standard documentation for the various operations in the plant ensuring uniformity across departments.  Is expected to be current on industry standards and latest developments.  Applies best practices and ensures that they are approved and documented. Critically analyzes processes/systems/practices to identify current gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Focus on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineering service requests as well as evaluation and recommendation of process capital improvements and automation.
  • Work with Project Engineering and Comprehensive Continuous Improvement to set appropriate documentation standards for ease of use in developing training documentation for plant staff.
  • Participate in documentation to support Preventative Maintenance, Autonomous Maintenance, focused improvement, and quality systems.
  • As requested, support new plant startups providing personal technical expertise and process team support.
  • The Process Technician is responsible for maintaining the following documents for the assigned area: Department Operating Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Control Procedures, All run documents including Yield Reports, Changeover documents, Process Reliability reports, and any supportive documents requested by department, Line Capability, All above documents for new projects and maintained annually for ongoing systems
  • The Process Tech is responsible for building all BOMs and recipes in WRMS
  • The Process Tech will assist the TM in the short yield investigations and any RCCA investigations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Meets standards in overall performance rating in the most recent performance review. 
  • At least 3 years of packaging and production experience required.
  • Strong analytical ability required. Must demonstrates strong mathematical skills to analyze production data and generate process reliability (PR) reports for spray dryer operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct problems on a variety of equipment required. 
  • Very Strong Demonstrated experience in Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability to use Historian Client, BOBJ
  • Proven ability to train and lead others required.
  • Demonstrated process improvement ability and leadership skills required. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong mathematics
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form required
  • Ability to work overtime/weekends required.
  • Ability to work cross functionally in a team environment required
  • Acceptable attendance required

The pay range for this role is $28.12 - 42.19.
