Job description

About the Position:

Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus (BMFA) is looking for a dedicated Automotive/Diesel Technician to join our team. This role involves performing service and repairs on diesel engines and fire trucks. The Diesel Technician will receive order assignments from Operations Control, identify mechanical and operating defects in vehicles and equipment, and report these defects to a supervisor for corrective action. Adherence to company and industry safety standards is essential. A successful candidate will be a hard worker who embraces the BMFA culture.

Candidates with an automotive technical background are encouraged to apply. Experience in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics is a significant plus.


Job Details:

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Pay: $23.00 - $37.00 per hour
  • Pay Determination: Starting pay is commensurate with experience and technical proficiency. Factors influencing the final rate include:
    • Years of relevant industry experience.
    • Current certifications (ASE, EVT, etc.).
    • Specific industry training or vocational degrees.
    • Prior experience specifically with Emergency Vehicles (Fire/EMS).
    • Proficiency in specialized systems (pumps, aerials, multiplexing).
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Schedule: 10-hour shift (4 days/week) - Enjoy a 3-day weekend!
  • Work Location: On-site (Union Grove, AL)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform service and repairs on diesel engines and specialized fire apparatus systems.
  • Receive and execute order assignments from Operations Control.
  • Identify and report mechanical/operating defects in vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace while adhering to industry safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Technical Background: Automotive or Diesel technical background is required.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Experience in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical diagnostics is a significant plus.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to handle the physical demands of heavy equipment repair.

Education:

  • Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred).
  • Experience: 3+ years of Automotive or Diesel Repair (Preferred).
  • License/Certification: Driver's License (Required).
    • ASE or EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) Certifications (Highly Preferred).
