Dirt CrewGPS Finish Dozer Operator
Hughes Brothers Construction is now hiring! We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large site infrastructure, underground utilities and roadway construction throughout Central Florida. GPS Finish Dozer Operators for a Dirt Crew are responsible for safely and efficiently operating the Dozer to level and scoop soil as well as control the direction and angle of the equipment to move rocks and debris.
Responsibilities:
  • Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment and materials using trucks, crawler tractors, shovels, graders and other related equipment.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, workers and falling objects.
  • Perform equipment inspections to check for fluid levels, start engines, move throttles, switches and levers.
  • Align machine with reference stakes and guidelines, ground or position equipment, following hand signals of other workers.
  • Coordinate machine actions with other activities including positioning or moving loads in response to hand or audio signals from other crew members.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of linework and surface construction in a GPS bulldozer, as well as be able to 'freehand' operate as well.
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies/procedures.
  • Perform job tasks in an outdoor setting which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
  • Minimum 2 years' experience running, maneuvering, driving and navigating similar equipment.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
  • Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
  • Out-of-town travel and/or overtime is a possibility
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • English and Spanish fluency a plus, but not required
