Number of Position(s): 1 Work Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm Work Day: Monday – Friday Aalis Management Consulting is seeking a Budget Analyst to support a federal agency in Washington, DC. The Budget Analyst will provide budget execution, financial management, travel program administration, and operational support for high-visibility federal programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting federal budget execution, financial operations, travel management systems, and administrative processes while ensuring compliance with agency policies, financial regulations, and internal controls. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced federal environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support federal budget execution and financial management activities across multiple programs and offices. Review and process travel authorization packages to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal travel regulations and agency policies. Validate funding availability, accounting classifications, lines of accounting (LOAs), budget codes, and supporting financial documentation. Create, update, and manage travel authorizations in Concur, ensuring accurate routing, approvals, and financial coding.

Coordinate with travel management vendors and agency travel offices to support ticketing, itinerary processing, and travel-related changes. Maintain centralized tracking tools to monitor travel authorizations, funding status, approval workflows, travel schedules, and required documentation. Monitor shared travel mailboxes, respond to inquiries, and coordinate updates related to approvals, funding, cancellations, and itinerary changes.

Apply agency policies, accounting guidance, routing procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliant travel processing. Create and update Lines of Accounting (LOAs) in Concur and route travel documentation for review, approval, and financial processing. Perform funding validation and financial reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of travel-related transactions. Identify and resolve funding or documentation discrepancies while recommending process improvements to increase efficiency.

Prepare budget reports, financial analyses, spreadsheets, dashboards, and status updates to support leadership decision-making. Participate in meetings with financial managers, program staff, and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve budget and travel operations. Develop and maintain process documentation and recommend workflow improvements that enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance.

Collaborate with financial managers, budget analysts, administrative staff, and travel coordinators to support timely budget execution and travel operations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or a related discipline. Minimum of five (5) years of experience supporting federal budget, financial management, travel operations, or administrative programs. Experience supporting federal budget execution, financial reporting, and travel management processes. Experience using Concur for travel authorization processing and travel management.

Experience reviewing funding documentation, accounting codes, lines of accounting, and financial records. Experience supporting travel authorization workflows, approvals, and compliance with federal travel regulations. Experience preparing financial reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and tracking tools. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
