Job description

This position is located in Boise, ID. Must be willing to relocate to Boise.

Superior Blasting, Inc. is seeking a full-time Rock Driller. By joining our team, we will work continually to balance your skill sets and passions that will contribute to the growth of our company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • - Drill rock using hydraulic drills on construction and rock quarry sites
  • - Set up, calibrate, and operate machinery to precise specifications, ensuring accuracy in depth and alignment
  • - Inspect equipment daily, maintain and clean equipment, and document maintenance and inspection logs
  • - Detect the need for any repairs or maintenance of equipment, and communicating this to supervisor
  • - Lay out design patterns, checking ground conditions, positioning drill
  • - Assist with blasting operations as needed
  • - Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment and workers, or falling objects
  • - Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
  • - Able to adjust to a variety of duties and willingness to perform any duties assigned
  • - Adhere to OSHA and MSHA safety policies and follow strict company safety protocols in order to maintain a safe work environment

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • - Must be 18 years of age or older
  • - Previous experience with heavy machinery or drilling equipment is preferred
  • - Able to read survey staking
  • - Valid driver license with no DUIs, and no more than 3 moving violations and/or chargeable accidents
  • - Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and ability to work around heavy equipment
  • - Pass pre-employment drug test. We have a zero- tolerance drug policy
  • - Pass the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) background screening; must be felony free
  • - Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, communicate effectively, keep required work schedules, and follow work rules
  • - Consistently applying sound drilling practices and techniques to the best of your ability
  • - Capable of heavy lifting and working in remote, loud, or varying weather conditions

Bonus Qualifications, preferred not required:

  • - Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL)
  • - OSHA 10 or Hazmat certificates, Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate
