Environmental Technician

ATI has a current need for a full-time Environmental Technician position in Springfield, Virginia.


Great Pay and Benefits for an Environmental Technician

  • $35.00 - $45.00/hour depending on experience and benefits chosen;
  • 11 annual paid Federal holidays;

Duties of an Environmental Technician

The Environmental Technician will be responsible for assisting with solid and hazardous waste management throughout a Government facility. This role involves working in secure environments in support of mission-critical operations. Duties will include:

  • Place and label hazardous waste storage drums at designated Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA);
  • Pick-up and move hazardous waste from the SAA to a centralized Hazardous Waste Building (HWB) on the site as needed;
  • Inspect/monitor/document storage conditions at SAA and HWB in accordance with regulatory requirements;
  • Conduct inventories of hazardous materials and hazardous waste on site and assist in reporting status to the Government;
  • Coordinate and monitor solid and universal waste receptacle pick-ups; and
  • Assist in other facility maintenance activities as time allows.


Required Qualifications and Experience for an Environmental Technician

  • Candidate must be a US citizen and must be eligible to obtain and maintain clearance; Candidate must be able to work independently in a secure or sensitive environment;
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a similar role;
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER certification required, DOT HazMat certification is a plus;
  • The ability to lift 50 - 70 lbs. and work in various levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators; and
  • Respirator fit with pulmonary function test, baseline and ongoing medical surveillance, and drug testing will be required; and
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Pay Range: $35.00 - $45.00/hour depending on experience and benefits chosen

Location: Springfield, VA

Working Hours: Normal Work Hours - Monday - Friday (anticipate 40 per week).
