Job description

There's no pledge more important than the one we make to look after our environment, and we're committed to helping you do exactly that.
Join us as we strive to ensure a sustainable future for our communities and the world we live in.
Become part of our global network of skilled engineers, scientists, auditors, planners and environmental specialists, all working together to leave this world better than we found it.
Who are we looking for?
GHD has an opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Contamination Assessment and Remediation Group. We are looking for an experienced professional with a background supporting oil & gas clients and projects, including upstream, midstream, downstream, or related energy-sector environments. The Project Manager leads the planning and delivery of environmental assessment and remediation projects, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, manages scope, schedule, budget, and risk, and is accountable for high-quality client service and project outcomes for complex oil and gas sites.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
  • Lead delivery of environmental projects for oil & gas facilities and sites, ensuring clear scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, and execution plans are in place from initiation through closeout.
  • Manage day-to-day project execution, including performance, risks, issues, changes, and dependencies, while coordinating internal teams and external partners to maintain delivery, quality, and commercial outcomes.
  • Provide regular communications and reporting for active oil & gas projects; keep clients and internal stakeholders informed on progress, financial performance, regulatory obligations, and upcoming milestones.
  • Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and partner teams, ensuring consistent standards for field execution, site access requirements, health and safety expectations, and quality outcomes across oil & gas and energy-sector projects.
  • Support digital field data collection and standardized reporting workflows; contribute to dashboards and evidence packs used for project visibility.
  • Prepare and review technical and project deliverables, including reports, client updates, and regulatory documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and readiness for internal approval and external submission.
  • Manage project risks, deviations, and client issues proactively, using agreed controls and escalation pathways to support disciplined, no-surprises delivery.
  • Drive project closeout activities, including complete documentation, lessons learned, continuous improvement actions, and effective handoff across teams and client stakeholders.

What you will bring to the team:
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects for oil & gas, or energy-sector clients, with accountability for client relationships, project performance, and delivery excellence.
  • Strong project management skills across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource management, with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a structured and practical way.
  • Strong leadership skills across field and office resources, subcontractors, and cross-functional stakeholders in complex oil & gas project environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage client discussions, coordinate internal stakeholders, and deliver clear project reporting.
  • Deep background in oil & gas environmental projects, including upstream, midstream, downstream, field development, facility operations support, remediation, site assessments, or regulatory compliance programs.
  • Familiarity with structured delivery frameworks that embed assurance (verification, documentation, audit trails) into workflows.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or related field
  • PE or PG will be highly regarded
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in environmental consulting, including environmental remediation and site assessments, report writing, data management and interpretation, project management, and client management, preferably with significant exposure to oil & gas projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel for client meetings, project coordination, and occasional field or site visits is required
  • Proven experience managing environmental projects with a focus on delivery consistency, documentation quality, and efficient coordination across teams and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with analytics dashboards and data management practices that support compliance tracking and decision-making

This position requires pre-employment medical and drug screenings, to the extent allowable by applicable law, and employment is contingent upon successfully completing the pre-employment screenings.
