Job description

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES), an industry leader with a reputation for excellence in providing environmental consulting, engineering, compliance, and technical field services to clients in diverse market sectors, seeks an experienced and motivated Environmental Project Manager to join our growing team in Wall Township, NJ. What You’ll Do:

As an Environmental Project Manager at GES, you’ll take full ownership of a dynamic portfolio of projects, with a strong focus on environmental investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance in New Jersey. You’ll lead technical teams, serve as a primary client contact, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of environmental investigation and remediation projects (primarily in NJ).
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff; assign resources and oversee the preparation of reports, proposals, and project deliverables.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and reliable project execution.
  • Lead project planning, execution, and budgeting; track performance against financial goals.
  • Review and author technical documents, including complex site characterizations and remedial action plans.
  • Evaluate subsurface data for soil, vapor, and groundwater to support remediation strategies.
  • Apply knowledge of remedial systems under the direction of a Professional Engineer.
  • Prepare and implement regulatory strategies in line with state and local environmental policies.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and business development staff to support consistent, high-quality service and foster new opportunities.
  • Conduct performance reviews, lead team meetings, and support staff development and workload management.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5–10+ years of relevant experience, including investigation, remediation, reporting, and client/project management.
  • Strong working knowledge of NJ environmental regulations, including the NJDEP Technical Regulations and accompanying guidance documents.
  • Proven experience authoring and reviewing complex technical documents and reports.
  • Demonstrated success in managing clients, project budgets, and personnel.
  • Skilled in strategic thinking, problem-solving, and maintaining long-term client relationships.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) license is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with business development and proposal writing is a strong plus.
