Hours: 8-hour shifts
Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center - Gadsden, AL
We are seeking a Boiler Operator/Maintenance Technician, also referred to as a Hospital Maintenance Technician III, Plant Operations Technician III or Boiler Operator III. The Hospital Maintenance Tech III is responsible for advanced maintenance and repairs on hospital systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment to ensure a safe and operational healthcare environment. This role also supports emergency response, preventive maintenance, and facility projects while coordinating with staff and contractors to minimize disruption to patient care.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, medical gas, and other systems
  • Quickly respond to emergency repair requests, such as system malfunctions or equipment breakdowns, to restore hospital operations without compromising patient care
  • Regularly inspect and test critical hospital safety systems such as backup generators, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and life safety equipment to ensure they are functional and compliant with safety standards
  • Preventative Maintenance, during regular inspections and checks to prevent breakdowns, like lubricating motors, testing generators, or checking emergency lighting
  • Assist with hospital renovation and construction projects; coordinate work with contractors as needed: including, but not limited to, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, plant maintenance, and medical gas systems

Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:
  • Able to troubleshoot, read schematics, and/or blue prints
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Certified and/or licensed in a specified trade that is relative to healthcare engineering (Steam boiler, HVAC, etc)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience specific to boiler and steam systems

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:
  • Five (5) years experience in an acute healthcare setting
