What is a full time ECAD librarian?

A Full Time ECAD Librarian is a professional responsible for managing electronic component libraries used in Electronic Computer-Aided Design (ECAD) systems. They create, update, and maintain schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models that engineers use during the design process. ECAD Librarians ensure that library components are accurate, standardized, and compliant with industry and company specifications. Their work helps streamline the design process and prevents errors in electronic product development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time ECAD librarian?

To thrive as a Full Time ECAD Librarian, you need a solid understanding of electronic component data management, library creation, and ECAD standards, typically supported by experience with electronic design automation (EDA) tools and a background in electronics or engineering. Proficiency with systems like Altium Designer, OrCAD, or Mentor Graphics, as well as database management tools, is commonly required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for maintaining data accuracy and collaborating with engineering teams. These abilities ensure high-quality component libraries, streamlined design processes, and reliable documentation crucial to successful electronic product development.

What are some common challenges full time ECAD librarians face when managing and updating component libraries?

Full Time ECAD Librarians often encounter challenges such as keeping up with frequent updates from component manufacturers, ensuring data consistency across multiple projects, and maintaining compliance with company standards. Another common challenge is effectively communicating with design engineers to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies in library parts. Staying organized and prioritizing tasks is essential, as even small errors in the library can lead to costly design issues down the line. Collaborating closely with engineering and procurement teams helps ensure the library remains accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with project needs.

Job description

Carbon Robotics is the leader in physical AI for agriculture, helping farmers become more profitable and sustainable. Its flagship product, the LaserWeeder™, is the world's leading commercial laser weeding system with hundreds of units operated by farmers in 15 countries worldwide.
LaserWeeder combines computer vision, AI, robotics, and high-powered lasers to identify weeds and destroy them with sub-millimeter precision-no herbicides, hand labor, or soil disturbance required. Growers achieve weed control cost reductions of up to 80% and crop yield increases of 5-50%, with payback in one to three years. The system is powered by Carbon AI's Large Plant Model (LPM), trained on 150 million labeled plants, and can start weeding any crop or field in minutes.
The company's second product is Carbon Autonomy, the most dependable tractor autonomy solution. Carbon Autonomy includes a retrofit tractor autonomy kit for John Deere tractors, autonomy software, and remote supervision for real-time interventions if required.
Carbon Robotics is based in Seattle, Washington State, USA and has raised $185 million in capital since 2018 from leading investors including NVIDIA's NVentures and BOND.
