This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Maverick Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Fort Worth, TX.
Maverick Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Irrigator to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department.
The Irrigator, under the supervision of the Director of Agronomy, performs all aspects of golf course maintenance, and will be a key component to the success of the golf course construction and grow in. The nature of the work will involve performing all moisture management on all playing surface including greens, tees, fairways and tough. Irrigators will have sets of golf holes they are responsible for, and will ensure soil moisture is at a sufficient level for optimal turf health and playing conditions. This will involve checking and running irrigation heads, and adding supplemental water to the turf in the form of hand watering. Additionally, an Irrigator will be trained and utilized in all other facets of golf course maintenance. This includes the use of large and small equipment including tractors, loaders, backhoes, mowers, string trimmers, hedgers, and all other maintenance equipment. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities
Monitors and maintains moisture on all playing surfaces.
Performs precision water management on bent grass and bermuda grass greens.
Checks the performance of irrigation heads on the golf course and makes adjustments as necessary.
Maintains adequate levels of moisture in the landscape and tree plantings.
Checks and maintains the functionality of drip irrigation systems to ensure proper delivery of water.
Operates all types of turfgrass management equipment including utility vehicles, reel and rotary mowers, flymos, mechanical bunker rakes, aerifiers, sprayers, turf vacs, skid steers, and sprayers.
Mows greens, tees, fairways, and rough with walk and riding mowers.

Performs hand trimming and detail work on various areas of the golf course.

Performs cleaning procedures and manual labor tasks.

Excavates and back fills ditches and trenches with hand tools.

Lays and hand waters sod, installs plant material and mulch.

Assists in construction of new greens, tees and fairways.
Performs other related groundwork as required.


Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid drivers license.

Some knowledge of irrigation practices are preferred.
Prior experience working on a golf course maintenance team is preferred.

Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
