DNI is seeking an Inventory Specialist to support an upcoming Property and Inventory Support contract at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California. This is an on-site role focused on receiving, cataloging, tracking, verifying, documenting, and moving Government property in support of warehouse, inventory, and delivery operations.
The Inventory Specialist will help maintain accurate property records, upload supporting documentation, support physical inventories, process excess equipment for reuse or disposition, and assist with delivery of Government equipment to designated locations and end users. The position will operate in a performance-driven environment that uses systems such as DPAS and Navy ERP and requires close coordination with Government personnel.
Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, log, and catalog Government-owned property upon arrival at designated receiving locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, transaction logs, and supporting documentation for accountable property.
  • Upload packing slips, receipts, inventory records, and other key supporting documentation into required Government systems and repositories.
  • Conduct routine physical inventories, spot checks, barcode scans, and record reconciliations to verify asset location, condition, and accountability.
  • Assist with warehousing operations, including staging, organizing, labeling, storing, and moving equipment and materials.
  • Coordinate delivery of Government equipment to the PMD office, designated buildings, or end users across the NPS campus.
  • Identify discrepancies in inventory, documentation, or asset status and escalate issues for timely resolution.
  • Support transportation and material movement activities using approved methods and equipment in accordance with site procedures.
  • Follow contract procedures, safety requirements, security protocols, and quality standards for handling Government property.
  • Work collaboratively with Government acceptors, property personnel, warehouse staff, and program leadership to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.

Requirements
  • Experience supporting inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics, property accountability, or supply support functions
  • Experience receiving, tracking, organizing, and documenting equipment or materials in a structured operational environment
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and work carefully with serialized or accountable property
  • Experience using inventory databases, spreadsheets, or property/accountability systems; familiarity with DPAS, Navy ERP, or similar systems is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform physical inventory work, including lifting, carrying, staging, and moving equipment as part of daily operations
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers, teammates, and Government personnel
  • Ability to work full-time on site in Monterey, California.
