Cornerstone Family Healthcare is actively recruiting for a Medical Records Clerk to join our growing team in Newburgh, NY.
RATE OF PAY/SALARY: $17.50 per hour
WORK LOCATION(S): Newburgh, NY
STATUS: Full-time
General Purpose:
File and maintain medical records in an organized and numerical manner, ensuring that patient medical records are properly stored, maintained, and available for patient care in a timely manner.
Description of Duties:
  • File records accurately in patients' electronic medical charts utilizing various record management software i.e., eCW, Centricity, Index logic, DocuWare, etc.
  • Retrieve paper medical records requested by the clinical departments and as needed to fulfill record release requests.
  • Accurately log all paper medical records delivered to and retrieved from clinical departments.
  • Accurately log all paper medical records relocated from one storage site to another.
  • Report missing medical records within 15 minutes to the Medical Records supervisor.
  • Answer the medical records phone line within 4 rings.
  • Processes all incoming records (lab work, X-rays, prescription refills, diagnostic reports, referrals, etc.) via fax cues, scans, or mail in a timely manner and according to Cornerstone Family Healthcare policy.
  • Scan paper documents accurately into the appropriate section of the patients' electronic medical records.
  • Accurately log into each patient's chart all medical records received
  • Process incoming and outgoing medical record releases; ensure that the consent form and all required forms of identification are in place.
  • Process patient medical records release requests within 3-10 business days, in accordance with Cornerstone Family Healthcare policies and procedures.
  • Archive paper medical records by converting them to an electronic format in a designated electronic record set.
  • Is knowledgeable about all Medical Records, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability), Confidentiality and all other related policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in monthly departments, All Staff and other required meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all aspects of Cornerstone Family Healthcare including patient confidentiality, financials, and employee relations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, coworkers, and others always
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency exam
  • At least 1-year experience in an office environment with computer experience
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Ability to work in close quarters and stand for extended periods
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Salary Description
17.50/Hour
