Job description

We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our Los Angeles office is looking for an Associate Attorney to join our Discovery team. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the discovery phase of civil matters for some of the largest property owners and management companies in California.

Compensation:

$110,000-$135,000 Annually (DOE) + Benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the discovery phase for new cases by propounding and responding to discovery, drafting and responding to meet and confer letters regarding discovery responses, and tracking the status of discovery documents
  • Manage and meet all discovery related deadlines
  • Conducts complex, nuanced privilege analysis and applies redactions
  • Review and analyze documents received during Discovery for any potential issues
  • Communicate and inform client of any defects in the case and gather necessary documentation
  • Leverage advanced eDiscovery tools to efficiently process, analyze, and cull large volumes of electronically stored information
  • Provide legal advice through phone consultations, assessing the facts and issues of each scenario and counseling clients accordingly
  • Draft legal correspondence, including letters, notices and memos
  • Conduct legal research on an independent basis
  • Respond to client questions and concerns in order to increase and retain business

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • J.D. and active California Bar license
  • Discovery experience a plus
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with minimal oversight
  • Strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills
  • Ability to work with people of all educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds who may have differing communication abilities

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Knowledge of landlord/tenant law and rules of civil procedure

Schedule:

Position is full-time, exempt. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday.

We currently offer a hybrid in-office remote work model for select positions within the Firm. New hire employees who are offered a hybrid schedule will complete the majority of their onboarding and training in-office as deemed necessary for the position by the firm before transitioning to a hybrid schedule, subject to approval by their supervisor.
