Job description

The Discipleship Pastor is expected to contribute towards the church's overall mission to seek Jesus and see you. This key leadership position oversees all aspects of connecting the congregation to one another by building community through a strong, healthy, and growing discipleship ministry. This includes the development and execution of spiritual pathways, group leader identification and recruitment, small group/adult class curriculum development, and ongoing leadership and coaching of group leaders and teachers.


Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the development and growth of a strong discipleship ministry, fostering community involvement and spiritual growth.
  • Implement regular leader and participant recruitment methods and processes, resulting in steady increases in small group and class participation.
  • Plan and execute regular connection events as a means of bridging the gap between attraction environments and deepening environments.
  • Function as the overall leader of discipling opportunities and discipleship leader development.
  • Foster a strong and active network of leaders, members, and individuals interested in becoming part of the church's discipleship ministry.
  • Create promotional materials and methods that ensure everyone is aware of the discipleship ministry, its purpose and importance, and how to get connected.
  • Identify, develop, and/or select curriculum and other study materials and tools.
  • Drive and coordinate regular spiritual growth journeys as part of the church's weekend service planning and design processes.
  • Serve as a staff liaison to volunteer-led women's and men's ministries.
  • Function as a member of the church's pastoral staff, preaching, performing baptisms, weddings, funerals, etc., as part of a rotation schedule.
  • Assist in developing an annual departmental budget and managing spending to budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
