Job Description
Location: Vineland, NJ
Department: Facilities / Data Center Operations
Reports To: Facilities Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time (Shift work / On-call rotation may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical facility infrastructure that supports mission-critical data center operations, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, up-time-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical infrastructure systems, including:
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, ATS/switchgear, and PDUs
  • Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) / Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) units, chillers, and cooling towers
  • Fire suppression and life safety systems
  • Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, walkthroughs, and equipment readings to identify potential issues before they escalate
  • Support installation, upgrades, and decommissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order records, and compliance documentation
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, calibrations, and inspections
  • Follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash safety, and change management procedures
  • Assist with capacity planning and infrastructure improvement projects
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulatory and industry standards

Requirements
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training or associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, critical environments, or data center operations (or equivalent military/technical experience)
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (up to medium voltage), mechanical systems, and HVAC principles
  • Familiarity with UPS, generators, switchgear, and precision cooling systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a 24/7 operational environment
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and be part of an on-call rotation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman electrician license or equivalent certification
  • EPA universal certification (HVAC)
  • Experience with DCIM/BMS platforms
  • CFC/HVAC certification
  • Experience in collocation, hyperscale, or enterprise data center environment
  • OSHA 10/30 certification

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces for extended periods
  • Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels
  • Comfortable working at heights and around high-voltage equipment with proper safety training
