Data Center Technician

Location: Onsite – Data Center Environment

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Our client is seeking to hire Data Center Cable Technicians to support mission‑critical operations in a large-scale data center environment. This role focuses on structured cabling, rack‑and‑stack work, hardware installation, and connectivity troubleshooting. Ideal candidates thrive in hands‑on technical environments and have strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, label, and test copper and fiber optic cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, SM/MM fiber).
  • Terminate and test patch panels, jacks, connectors, and structured wiring.
  • Perform rack and stack of servers, network switches, PDUs, and related hardware.
  • Route cabling through ceilings, raised floors, ladder racks, trays, and structured pathways.
  • Execute precise cable management and maintain neat, organized racks.
  • Assist with hardware deployments, including server racking, circuit board installation, and tray builds.

Qualifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in structured cabling, telecommunications, or data center environments.
  • Experience with rack and stack of IT hardware (servers, network gear, PDUs, etc.).
  • Familiarity with cable testing tools and cable certification processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
