Job Description

This role supports Arvato's newest data center services, delivering critical solutions such as high-security transport, white-glove delivery, and technical support. Our clients include hyperscale data center operators, high-tech freight forwarders, co-location providers, and Software as a Service (SaaS) companies.

The Data Center Technician assumes a critical role in the installation and upkeep of cabling to guarantee seamless operations of hardware networks, including equipment and server/network rack decommissioning.

YOUR TASKSย 

  • Arrive at clients' sites on time, with all required equipment, uniform, procedures, documentation, and PPE.
  • Cable server racks by patching and dressing fibre and copper cables (in certain regions, and training will be provided).
  • Provide industry-leading customer service levels by always acting professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Follow clients' procedures and requirements, including health and safety, and security.
  • Communicate with colleagues, including managers, planners, team leaders and supervisors, in a consistent, timely, and efficient manner. Reports include arrival times, delays, safety concerns, and completion times.
  • Complete daily checklists and providing reports on daily activities or tasks, including other general administration tasks.
Qualifications
  • Valid driving license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel for business needs.
  • Basic experience with hand and power tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and email.
  • Prior experience in a data center, logistics or construction environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test equipment preferred.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms, cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies preferred.
  • Prior experience with medium to large, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with common tools related to network troubleshooting, including VFLs, OTDR and power meters preferred.
  • Understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches and other network gear preferred.
