Description
Curry Health Centerinvites applications for a Medical Assistant to perform a broad range of clinical and administrative duties.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support patient care and clinical visits by preparing patients, obtaining and documenting relevant clinical information, and supporting timely patient flow
  • Assist healthcare providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, and other clinical activities within established protocols, competencies, and scope of practice
  • Document and maintain accurate patient records and support appropriate use of the electronic health record, including clinical documentation and charge capture
  • Coordinate patient care activities such as referrals, follow-up, prior authorizations, patient communications, and other established clinical workflows
  • Prepare and maintain clinical environments, equipment, and supplies to support safe, efficient, and effective patient care
  • Recognize and appropriately escalate changes in patient condition or urgent concerns while working within established protocols and seeking clinical direction when needed
  • Promote a safe, professional, and collaborative care environment by maintaining patient privacy, following infection-prevention and organizational requirements, communicating effectively, and adapting to changing priorities

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of basic medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, infection prevention, and common ambulatory-care procedures
  • Proficiency in accurately obtaining, documenting, and maintaining patient information while supporting routine clinical care
  • Experience preparing patients, rooms, equipment, and supplies and assisting healthcare providers with examinations and procedures within established protocols and competencies
  • Knowledge of recognizing changes in patient condition and appropriately communicating and escalating concerns to licensed clinical staff
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating professionally, maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries, and responding appropriately to sensitive situations
  • Demonstrated capacity to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment while following safety, infection prevention, privacy, and organizational requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant through a nationally recognized credentialing organization
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory-care, primary-care, urgent-care, or student-health setting
  • Experience supporting clinical care, procedures, documentation, and patient care workflows
  • Experience with clinical operations, including equipment, supplies, infection control, and quality assurance
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with a commitment to patient-centered, inclusive care and supporting the development of others

Additional Information
Bargaining Unit: FOCUS-MFPE
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year
Probationary Period: Six (6) months minimum
Benefits Include: Insurance package, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program.
