Delivery Service Driver (class C or non-CDL driver)

Department: Transportation Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time / Multiple Shifts Available

Position Summary

The Delivery Service Driver is a non-CDL commercial driving position responsible for safely operating company-owned delivery vehicles to ensure timely and accurate delivery of fresh produce and specialty food products. This customer-facing role provides exceptional service, protects product quality and food safety, rotates merchandise using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices when required, and represents Brothers Food Service with professionalism, safety, and operational excellence.

Essential Functions

The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.

  • Safely operate company-owned non-CDL commercial delivery vehicles in accordance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
  • Complete pre-trip, post-trip, and daily vehicle inspections, promptly reporting maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Review assigned delivery routes, customer orders, invoices, and delivery documentation before departure.
  • Deliver products safely, accurately, and on schedule while maintaining product quality, food safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Load, unload, and transport products using proper lifting techniques and material handling equipment as appropriate.
  • Rotate, stock, and merchandise products at customer locations using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices when required to maintain product freshness, quality, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain product integrity by following established food safety, sanitation, and temperature control procedures throughout the delivery process.
  • Verify delivered quantities with customers, obtain required delivery confirmations, resolve delivery discrepancies when possible, and promptly communicate unresolved issues to management.
  • Utilize handheld devices, tablets, mobile applications, or other electronic delivery systems to accurately document deliveries, obtain customer signatures, complete required paperwork, and communicate route information.
  • Handle customer questions, concerns, product returns, shortages, or discrepancies professionally and communicate issues promptly to management.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, route documentation, invoices, and other required company paperwork.
  • Immediately report vehicle damage, accidents, traffic citations, equipment malfunctions, product loss, safety concerns, or customer incidents in accordance with company policy.
  • Keep delivery vehicles clean, organized, and presentable.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and company regulations applicable to assigned vehicles and operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance and dependable punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class C Driver License and an acceptable driving record that meets Brothers Food Service's driver qualification standards as a condition of employment.
  • Minimum three (3) years of commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, road test, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future employment visa sponsorship by Brothers Food Service.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to safely perform the essential functions of the position, communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, management, and customers, and accurately complete required delivery documentation.
  • Basic math skills sufficient to verify product quantities, invoices, and delivery documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous food service, produce, grocery, wholesale distribution, or route delivery experience.
  • Experience stocking, merchandising, or rotating inventory in a customer-facing environment.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other material handling equipment.
  • Experience using electronic proof-of-delivery (ePOD), handheld devices, tablets, or mobile route applications.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

  • Safely perform repetitive lifting, loading, unloading, and product handling throughout the workday.
  • Work in refrigerated, freezer, warehouse, and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.
