About the role - you will:
Seagate Technology is looking for a talented scientist to directly contribute to advanced research efforts in data security and secure computation. The Senior Research Engineer will be responsible for evaluating new data privacy solutions, supporting research and product teams with security expertise, and conducting novel security research. Our research model offers a great deal of academic freedom tempered by a commitment to concrete results that improve security, usability and performance for end users. We also support forward-thinking theoretical work that will drive eventual technological improvements to data processing and security. Our ideal candidate combines intellectual curiosity with a collaborative mindset and a drive to change the technological landscape for the better.
As a Research Engineer, you'll be responsible for:
โ€ข Communicating with subject matter experts at all Seagate worldwide sites
โ€ข Evaluating new trends in cybersecurity and emerging algorithms and protocols
โ€ข Developing and analyzing new security technology
โ€ข Providing guidance for future Seagate products
โ€ข Publishing and presenting research papers at industry/academic conferences.
โ€ข Producing technical reports, filing patents, and presenting results.
You may be required to travel domestically on occasion.
About you:
You're deeply interested in cybersecurity, and you're looking for the opportunity to learn on the job and to be hands-on in developing projects from genesis to completion. You're an effective communicator of both technical details and high-level concepts, especially to those outside your field.
Your experience includes:
โ€ข Research/Publication record in cryptography, systems security, or a related field, especially with a focus on cryptography, provable security, formal verification, side-channel security confidential computation, or privacy-preserving machine learning.
โ€ข Experience designing, implementing, or analyzing cryptographic protocols.
โ€ข Familiarity with production development processes is a plus.
โ€ข Experience with and interest in the standardization process is a plus.
โ€ข Programming experience (e.g., Rust, C/C++, Python)
โ€ข PhD or equivalent education and experience in the field of Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $106,000 - $138,000. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Seagate offers comprehensive benefits to its eligible employees, including, but not limited to, , eligibility to participate in discretionary bonus program, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short-and long-term disability, 401(k), employee stock purchase plan, health savings account, dependent care, and healthcare spending accounts.
