Job description

Baylands Family Credit Union is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team as Accounting & Electronic Services Manager.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this hands-on role manages the credit union's accounting and financial reporting functions, oversees electronic services, and leads department staff.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant or accounting professional who is ready to take the next step into management and expand their experience in credit union operations.
What You'll Do
  • Manage and reconcile approximately general ledger accounts, research discrepancies, resolve variances, and support an accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Coordinate cash management, investments, borrowing, and liquidity activities with the CEO.
  • Support Asset Liability Management (ALM) and ALCO reporting.
  • Prepare and coordinate regulatory reporting, including the NCUA Call Report.
  • Provide financial information and documentation for internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial safeguards.
  • Oversee electronic services, including ACH, debit and ATM cards, online services, mobile services, bill pay, mobile deposit, and eStatements.
  • Coordinate vendors, system upgrades, testing, troubleshooting, and product changes related to electronic services.
  • Supervise, train, and develop Accounting & Electronic Services employees.

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of progressive professional accounting experience.
  • Strong experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience working in a complex general ledger environment with a significant volume of accounts and reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Strong Excel, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to research discrepancies, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and readiness to lead and develop others.

You do not need experience in every area listed above. We are looking first for a strong accountant who can manage an accounting environment and is ready to grow into the credit union-specific, leadership, and electronic-services responsibilities of the position.
Schedule & Location
This is a full-time, exempt, onsite position located at Baylands Family Credit Union in West Point, Virginia.

  • Work directly with the CEO
  • Step into a management role and lead a department
  • Build on a strong accounting foundation
  • Gain broader exposure to credit union finance and operations
  • Develop experience in electronic services and regulatory reporting
  • Make a visible impact within a community-focused organization

Benefits

  • Credit union-paid short-term and long-term disability
  • Credit union-paid life insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
