How much do full time cook jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 17, 2026, the average hourly pay for full time cook in Kansas is $14.30, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $12.02 and $16.06 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

Full-time cooks typically do not earn $500,000 annually; such high salaries are usually associated with executive roles, specialized medical professionals, or successful entrepreneurs. High-paying culinary careers may include owning a restaurant or working as a celebrity chef, but these are rare and often involve additional income sources. Most culinary positions offer salaries well below this threshold without significant business or brand opportunities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Cook, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Cook, you need strong culinary skills, knowledge of food safety, and experience in food preparation, often supported by formal culinary training or relevant kitchen experience. Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment, POS systems, and certification in food handling (such as ServSafe) are typically required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure are essential soft skills in this role. These skills ensure high-quality food production, safe kitchen operations, and a positive dining experience for customers.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Full-time cooks typically do not earn $2,000 a day; such high daily earnings are usually associated with specialized roles like executive chefs in high-end restaurants, private chefs for wealthy clients, or culinary consultants, often requiring extensive experience, certifications, and a strong reputation. Most cooking jobs pay hourly or salary-based wages that are significantly lower than this amount daily.

What is the highest paying job for a cook?

The highest paying jobs for cooks are often executive chefs or head chefs in high-end restaurants, hotels, or private clubs, with salaries reaching six figures in some cases. Specialized skills, extensive experience, and certifications such as culinary degrees or certifications can contribute to higher earnings. These roles typically require strong leadership, menu planning, and kitchen management skills.

What are full time cooks?

Full time cooks are culinary professionals who prepare and cook food in restaurants, cafeterias, or other food service establishments as their primary occupation. They typically work 35-40 hours or more per week and are responsible for following recipes, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring meals are prepared efficiently and tastefully. Full time cooks may also handle tasks such as cleaning their workstations, managing inventory, and collaborating with kitchen staff to deliver a smooth dining experience.

What job makes $10,000 a month without a degree?

A full-time cook typically does not earn $10,000 a month without significant experience, specialization, or working in high-end establishments. High earnings in the culinary field are usually associated with executive chefs or owners of successful restaurants, which often require extensive skills, certifications, and business acumen. Most jobs that pay $10,000 monthly without a degree are in sales, real estate, or entrepreneurship, rather than cooking.

What is the difference between Full Time Cook vs Part Time Cook?

AspectFull Time CookPart Time Cook
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekFewer hours, often less than 30 hours per week
CredentialsMay require food safety certifications, culinary trainingSame as full-time, but often less emphasis on certifications
Work EnvironmentFull kitchen staff, consistent shifts in restaurants or hotelsFlexible shifts, part-time roles in similar settings
Employment BenefitsUsually includes benefits like health insurance, paid leaveLess likely to receive full benefits

Full Time Cooks work more hours with consistent schedules and often receive benefits, while Part Time Cooks have flexible hours with fewer benefits. Both roles require culinary skills and certifications, but full-time positions typically offer more stability and perks.

What are some common challenges full-time cooks face in a busy kitchen environment?

Full-time cooks often encounter challenges such as managing high-pressure situations during peak service hours, maintaining consistency in food quality, and adhering to strict health and safety standards. Working efficiently as part of a team is essential, as communication and coordination with other kitchen staff directly impact service speed and customer satisfaction. Adaptability and time management are also crucial, as daily tasks can shift quickly based on customer orders and kitchen needs.
