Converting Operator Second Shift

Position: Converting Operator

Location: Hickory, NC

Employment Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Shift: Second Shift 2:00pm-10:00pm

Department: Manufacturing

Reports To: Shift Supervisor

Pay Information: $21.50/hour plus $1.00/hour shift differential.

Position Summary

The Converting Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient production of filter sheets using water jet and punch press equipment. This role supports product quality, regulatory compliance, and production efficiency in a GMP / ISO-regulated manufacturing environment.

This opportunity is open to qualified internal candidates interested in expanding their manufacturing skills and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE

Perform required equipment safety inspections

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

Machine Operation

Set up, inspect, and operate water jet and punch press equipment

Verify alignment, measurements, and cut quality

Inspect test cuts, work-in-process, and finished products for defects

Quality & Documentation

Comply with GMP and ISO requirements

Verify materials, lots, and work orders prior to production

Accurately complete production and quality documentation

Production & Inventory

Package and label finished goods per work order instructions

Properly identify scrap or reusable materials

Support inventory counts as assigned

Teamwork

Work collaboratively with production, quality, maintenance, safety, and warehouse teams

Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors and coworkers

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred

Ability to follow work instructions, safety rules, and quality standards

Basic math, measurement, and computer skills

Strong attention to detail and reliability

Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Regular lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 65 lbs.

Frequent bending, reaching, and material handling

Ability to work in heat, noise, dust, and PPE-required environments
