STATUS: Full-time, exempt

SALARY RANGE: $90,000-110,000/year based on interview outcome and qualifications

Job Summary:
Clear Water Services is hiring a Control Systems Engineer to design and deliver high-quality control panels, troubleshoot and resolve control systems, establish best practices for continuous improvement, and work collaboratively with the operations and manufacturing teams. This role requires extensive knowledge in PLC programming and various design systems. This position will require travel to our various locations and jobsites, mostly in the greater Seattle area. Our headquarters are currently in Everett, WA, and we have other branches in Rodeo, Rancho Cordova, Signal Hill, CA and Ludington, MI.
Essential Job Functions:
  • PLC Programming: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs using various control systems, such as chemical production lines, water treatment systems, remote monitoring units, etc. Studio 5000 (Allen-Bradley) preferred.
  • HMI Design: Create and configure HMIs to meet operator and process requirements. PanelView (Allen-Bradley) and C-More preferred.
  • Control System Design: Design control panels, wire-ways, conduit runs, and select appropriate components for high-voltage (600VAC or less) systems.
  • System Integration: Lead projects from design to implementation, ensuring all systems operate smoothly and efficiently.
  • Electrical Drawings: Create and update CAD drawings for control panels and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues in existing control systems, including 3rd-party systems.
  • Travel: estimated >50% travel to various locations, primarily the greater Seattle area and other Pacific Northwest/West Coast locations.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming.
  • Understand and be able to modify electrical schematics.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing control systems for high-voltage (480V) applications.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, etc.).
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams.
  • Willingness to travel to various work locations, potentially nationwide.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SCADA Design: Develop, modify, and maintain SCADA systems for data collection and recipe management spanning wide geographic areas. Ignition by Inductive Automation preferred.
  • Database Interaction: Utilize and understand relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL, for reporting, data collection, and system integration as required.

Licensing & Special Requirements:
  • Incumbent is subject to a criminal background check.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Work is performed within Clear Water Services' Everett shop and at other construction and industrial job sites. This position will be expected and required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas and while on-site. Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds is required. Candidate must be able to walk, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, and move freely with minimal limitation.
