Job description

Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Digital Content Creator & Strategist. As a member of the University Communications team, this position is integral to the University's social media strategy and broader communications plan as we work to share our identity and values as a Christian university in the Lutheran tradition. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of University Communications and is an in-person role based in River Forest, IL.
Responsibilities/Duties
  • Develops and executes CUC's social media strategy, enhancing institutional visibility, reputation, and alignment with brand and Lutheran identity.
  • Plans and manages the social content calendar; produces and publishes platform-optimized graphics, photos, and short-form video.
  • Captures still photography and short-form, social-first video on campus and at events, providing real-time social coverage for high-priority events.
  • Writes accurate, on-brand captions; ensures accessibility (alt text, captions) and compliance (FERPA/copyright/UGC consent).
  • Monitors channels through social listening; engages/responds appropriately and routes inquiries as needed.
  • Tracks trends and surfaces relevant insights to internal teams; analyzes performance and delivers regular reports that inform strategy.
  • Collaborates across campus offices to reflect the full University experience.
  • Partners with the Director of Video Production Services to maintain consistent multimedia standards and support non-social video projects as needed.
  • Governs University-affiliated accounts: audits, recommends maintain/improve/discontinue actions, vets new requests, and guides secondary account managers on policies and best practices.
  • Coordinates timely dissemination of news, announcements, and crisis/emergency communications when applicable.
  • Supports special projects and contributes to broader University Communications initiatives; models professional, accurate, and timely communication and continuous improvement.
  • Candidates must support and be committed to the of Concordia University Chicago, a university of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS)

A bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, digital media, photography, film production, graphic design, or related discipline is required
